Love Songs
Love is an elevated and transcendent experience; therefore, hymns, gospels, chants and love songs for an earthly beloved, or the divine beloved are moving testaments of the romantic nature of the human soul. We see, smile, laugh and weep through tears; likewise love is a journey of discoveries, of raptures and bewilderments. It is the soul’s voice of hope that so amazes us in the rapturous words, sentiments and music of a love song.

Love Song

I passed by here a year ago
and you were still young and the world fair
The day was, I thought, the likes of forever.

On the beaches near the ocean I saw you forever
though it was only a day . . . your shadow is still there.

I left you to chase angels, drifting sands blown
by the wave's cresting from distant lands afar.

And so I ask, "Was it just a year ago or many ages
of the past that I passed here at the ocean and you
were a youth and still standing there?"

How do I hold you, a mirage, a memory I have
memorized since childhood--
You dancing in the golden sunlight and in the silver
stars? I still know you by your smile . . . does one
soul know itself growing older, and yet reminisce
with another--that holds a loving moment over a
lifetime--?

Can a day be a brilliant of the past, a jewel of the
moment, a hesitation before the eyes of forever?

Gospel Lyric

There's a sharp curve on the highway
There's a steep hill on the plain.
There are clouds around the rainbow
and the sky is threatening rain.

You' better make a way for the feeble
You' better lead on for the blind
For my God, my God he's able--he makes
water into wine.

Make a place for everybody
Make a space for a child
For my God, my God he's able--he'll deliver you in time
Make a way for the feeble--lead on for the blind
For my God, my God he's able he is yours, and he is mine.
